Jeremy touched the lives of so many people, each of which has a story or memory about an element of his being. While we have received over 1,000 messages there are some insights into Jeremy which continue to repeat themselves and we would like to share them with you.
And these are in no special order...
Jeremy was a loyal and devoted friend. Always happy to hear from people, whether we had the opportunity to share holidays or events or a shmooze on the phone his 'take away' would always be 'ah, it is so wonderful to connect with family and friends and hear about their lives, family and challenges'.
"Whenever I saw Jeremy he always had a book in his hand", explained someone at the Shiva. "And when I would ask about what he was reading (and sometimes the topics were words I did not even know) he would be able to explain what he was reading or learning so anyone could understand." Jeremy's dedication to learning was enhanced by his even further 'kef' (happiness) in sharing what he learned with others.
Jeremy lived a life of honesty and integrity. He always looked for the 'right thing to do' and was not one for going off the straight path. This was evident in his education of our children and his daily interactions with others.... from the plumber to the Principal of the boy's school.
Jeremy was always thinking about the other guy. Buying tefillin for our nephew so he would be proud at his Bar Mitzvah, helping others in various challenges they faced in life, coming up with ways he could use his intelligence, creativity and time to make life better for others, avoiding saying bad things about others and giving people a chance to be the best they can be. An inspirational mensch by example.
Loving and giving with kindness, his thoughts and kindness were the guiding forces in his everyday life. The message which was conveyed over and over during the Shiva repeated his devotion to giving with a smile. Kindness to others whether they were an old friend or the cleaning guy washing the stairs. His contagious smile and mischievous wink will stay with us forever.
